Janeen's Oil Works by Janeen Meyer-Johanson

Once again, I was humbled to have the chance to paint for Folsom. This time, I was asked to paint the up-and-coming 40-foot statue of The Man in Black. I added the finishing touches at the ribbon cutting ceremony Saturday night with Cindy Cash (youngest daughter of Johnny Cash). The painting sold that night, all proceeds going towards the cost of the future sculptures at the Johnny Cash Folsom Trail art part. The new Robber’s Ravine Bridge is a beautiful addition to the trail where an exquisite Farm to Fork evening took place to help finance the park. As a guest artist, I was lucky enough to be there. Here, then, is my take on the future sculpture, which, I am told, will look back at the prison in recognition of the time Cash sang there for the inmates—the Man in Black.
